Socks!

So I was going to update my status on Facebook, but thought 'no, this deserves to be blogged'.

I am sitting here in my sweater & long pants and thinking how COLD I am!!! I'm freezing. Then I thought, well I suppose if I put some socks on I may stay a little bit warmer, but I hate socks!!

I put some on this morning to take the kids to school while wearing my winter boots in this balmy -12 weather. So they come off in the boot before I've even reached the corner of the street (30 steps), so I walk the 2 blocks to school with my socks at my toes. Then walk the 2 blocks back home, pull up my socks and walk through the porch with all the melted snow into the house. Now they are wet! Then I tidy up the kitchen in my wet socks and they get the potatoe dirt that N has thrown all over the kitchen from the big bucket of potatoes Grandma brought us ...

So my socks get thrown into the laundry where it will most likely lose it's partner and then spend the next 6 months in my special 'lonely sock pile', till I've had enough of the mate never showing up and through it away, to only find the 'missing mate' the following week behind the dryer.

Did I mention I hate socks??

I Like to Look for Rainbows

Today I went out and played in the rain with my boys. It wasn't just a little shower, it was a down pour! I had water running off my head and down my face, dripping off my eye lashes and nose! It was a good kind of rain! The kind when it's pouring on your head, but the sun it shining bright in your eyes! The kind when rainbows appear!
It was just what I needed today!
I sat and pondered for a moment what a rainbow means to me in many different ways. And thought how grateful I am for the small things in my life, like rainbows, when at times it feels like the sky is falling down around me!

Mother's Day

My Kiddies, Making cookies with Daddy

I LOVE being a Mom!!! And I LOVE Mother's Day ... I don't often get breakfast in bed, but that's ok, I'm NOT a fan of crumbs!
I love it because of my husband ... I can ask him for pretty much anything ... and he agrees!

So the last couple of years I've started my own little Mother's Day tradition: I make WHATEVER I want for supper!! I make a very nice dinner which takes a LOT of prep on saturday and Jarem so KINDLY deals with the children ... then on sunday he helps out again while I do the final touches for dinner. I can't remember what I made last year for supper but I remember dessert! THE most important part anyway.

So this year I was feeling very down about things around here and then I remembered it was MOTHER'S DAY in a few days! So I started planning ... first a guest (aka a Very Deserving Mother) ... check ... menu ... check ... grocery shopping ... check (with a wonderful HUBBY and 3 kids in tow) ... then PREP DAY!!!! I LOVE IT!!!

Sunday was perfect ... church in the morning, all my little Primary Kiddies sang wonderfully for thier Mothers, then skipping choir, quiet afternoon while baby and MOMMY sleep ... and then dinner prep. Again VERY enjoyable!

Our Very Deserving Mother (along with her hubby and 3 kids in tow) arrive for dinner ... which consisted of: 3 Cheese Manicotti with Italian Sausage (my kiddies FAV, so I knew it wouldn't be a fight over dinner), cooked veggies, DELICIOUS salad (courtesy of Very Deserving Mother) and homemade buns ... YUMMY!! BUT the best part of dinner is the most incredible dessert ... White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake ... homemade of COURSE!! and Jarem ATE it!!!!! I made it last year; it's fun to do AND so incredibly good!!!!

We had SUCH a great evening ... everything tasted so nummy, kids played SO good and the adults were able to enjoy a nice ADULT conversation! And then of course a conversation with my own beloved Mother!! It was just such a GOOD day!!

I Love Mother's Day!

Been Thinking!

Well, i've been thinking for a while of starting a personal blog. Mostly just to be able to follow along with the blogs I read with out feeling too creepy about it. I'm not sure if anyone will read this, but sometimes I think I need an outlet beyond facebook to express myself and tell the world all the wonderful things my children do and say!!!

Today, my sweet Darby corrected my grammar .... stinker .... she loves words and spelling and putting words together to make sense. The other day she had to write a story for Show & Tell; I was her scribe and later reading it herself, she kept insisting the grammar was wrong and it didn't make sense!
