Dinner Conversation

Tonight at dinner the kids were having some random conversation about a cat named Mittens. I was not sure of any particulars regarding Mittens until the following was clarified:

D said while correcting E: No, Mittens is a girl!
E: Oh. Mom, is there boy cats?
D before I could reply: Of course there's boy cats. Duh, in order to get kittens you need a girl and a boy cat. I'm not exactly sure what the boy does though.
E, without missing a beat: Duh, he holds the girls hand!

So glad I haven't had to have the birds and the bees talk yet and they are happy with their bit of knowledge!!!

Welcome to the World Baby Girl!

I've started this post so many times and haven't been able to get it just right! But now that Marjie Mai is 8 weeks old, I thought it was time!! Marjorie Mai was born on Friday May 27th, 2011 @ 12:41 am

Weighing: 9 lbs 10 oz

Measuring: 23 inches

Mommy was very happy to not have to be induced for a 4th time, as my water broke at home @ 10:40 pm 2 days after my due date. The contractions I was having up to that point were pretty weak, so we were getting ready for bed when it happened. But once that water broke ... all HECK broke loose with the contractions! Jarem and I rushed around quickly getting the older 3 out of bed and into the van to take them to Grandma Lois's.

By the time we arrived at the hospital and was checked at 11:20, I was already dilated to 8 cm. Which meant NO Epidural for me! I nearly cried! Because I carry so high and my sweet babes never drop, the Doc wanted my to start pushing immediately.

Things were progressing as they should until the little one's heart rate dropped drastically and the Doc felt the Baby should be out NOW! So without ANY warning, those blessed Forceps were shoved where things should not be shoved and hooked onto Baby. With the next 2 contractions and the Doc doing his thing, our Marjorie Mai was brought into the world ... 2 hours after my water broke, with NO epidural or Morphine or Demerol ... and NO stitches!

She was perfectly perfect in every way!

Now at 8 weeks she is still perfectly perfect in every way! She has been such a great little baby (knock on wood) I cannot complain! I suppose it's a good way to end ... maybe!

My Sweet Girl ... My Sad Girl

A couple weeks after we moved D & E sent letters to their old classes in Saskatoon. They, especially Darby, were missing them terribly! She has asked every day since we sent the letter if there was any mail from "Caswell." Today there was!!! D's class all wrote individual letters to her and E's wrote a poster-sized letter and each of the kids signed it themselves! Some more legible than others!! It was sooo sweet to see them get so excited and to hear how they, D & E, have been terribly missed! Jarem and I discussed how this would affect the kids ... Well, I soon found out. I had heard Darby go into her room some time later and was being awfully quiet. I knocked on her door, to which there was no response. I opened it up and there she was on her bed, tears streaming down her face while holding her class picture from Caswell. The hardest part of being a mother, is seeing your child so terribly sad and upset and not being able to do a thing about it. I could not be strong today. I joined her.

So ... What Would You Do???

I love those moments when you're talking to your kids and they are being SO serious but it's actually REALLY funny, so you sit there trying to be very supportive and not let them see you're about to bust a gut. I had one this morning. It has been an ongoing discussion for a couple of weeks now. And every time with the same result ... me needing to walk away so he doesn't see I'm laughing. E confided in me a while back that he has bad dreams. He doesn't like these bad dreams and wanted to get rid of them. So we had a discussion of how we can pray and ask our Heavenly Father to help our bad thoughts go away. I then asked what his bad dreams were about, not at all expecting the answer he gave me: dreams about naked girls! In amongst the move and everything, I completely forgot about our conversation until last week, when while saying his bedtime prayers E prayed ... to have the naked girl dreams go away! Jarem turned to me and mouthed 'What did he just say?' So I told Daddy about the naked girl dreams which E helped clear up: they weren't just naked girls, they were naked girls that he had undressed!! It really upsets E that he has these thoughts and he was near tears, while Jarem and I were near tears from holding in the laughter! So once again, this morning I asked E how he slept. The usual morning conversation. To which he replied, "Not good. I had my naked girl dreams again." So I asked who was the girl in his dream. "Ms. V and I undressed her." (His S'toon Kindergarten Teacher!!!) I think we may have to have a little chat again ......

Oh, and I've been sworn to secrecy, so sshhh don't tell!!
